Eastside VBS – July 26th-29th – Our VBS is exactly one week away. We will be having classes for all ages, as well as some great preachers for the auditorium class. I will be mentioning this in a sermon this coming Sunday, but I visited a church recently who had as many people at morning VBS as their ordinary Sunday a.m. numbers! Isn’t that inspiring? We’ll have some at work, but let’s fill those spaces in with visitors and a great showing from our members. These teachers and preachers are working hard to prepare… let’s work hard to support them!

What a tremendous day of worship we had today! It felt so good to be back from a fulfilling gospel meeting, only to gather with our local family! All of our camp kids and parents were back home safely as well. It was a faith-building day. Our prayers are with the two who came forward today: Brian Broussard and Josie Valdez. Their humble hearts are great examples for us all. And, identifying where we need to do better is the largest step of all; so we pray they will know, love, serve and trust God more fully than every this week!
News Among Members:
Mickey Suttle is currently in the St. Luke’s hospital at the medical center in Houston. He has been diagnosed with several masses in his head. One in particular is of greater concern and a biopsy is scheduled for Thursday. He has been feeling poorly for weeks and we pray the doctors can help him feel better. (It is certainly worth mentioning that Celeste texted me a moment ago and said he is feeling good. So that’s positive news).
Our dear brother, Bob Paulsel, was remembered in a funeral service on Saturday morning. His 91 years of kindness and love leave heart warming and faith-building marks upon many, and we will miss him greatly.
Elma Chilson is in the Paramount Rehab center in Pasadena. She now has to recover from both her knee and head injury. She would love visits; and we are praying for her to get to go home very soon.
Sandra Brown is in the hospital at Galveston suffering from kidney problems and swollen legs. She has been in a lot of pain recently, and will stay there until there are large improvements to her condition.
Donna Shoultz has been home sick for the past two weeks with an upper respiratory infection. We know she would be with us if she could, and pray she will get stronger this coming week.
Sharon Peach was with us Sunday morning. It was really wonderful seeing her! She is feeling stronger and hoping to get out more and gather with us more often.
Shaylee, Shane Samples’ sister, died this past week following her car accident a few weeks ago.
Bill Murff continues to recover at the Triumph rehabilitation center in Baytown (1700 James Bowie Dr.) He has been moved to a room on the first floor. He has made even more positive progress in the last few days.
