Meet Kris

Kris Emerson is supported by the Eastside church and fulfills the role of an evangelist. Kris Emerson will began working with the church at Eastside October 3^rd, 2007.  He comes to us from Mauriceville, TX, where he preached for the church there two and a half years.  Before that, Kris worked with the brethren in Cleveland, TX.  He preached there for three and a half years.  Cleveland was his first full time preaching work, although for several previous years he studied regularly under Steve Fontenot, from the Humble Church of Christ, to help develop study and teaching skills.  During those first few years of local work, Kris came to Eastside a couple of times to fill in for Tony and work on his preaching skills.  It was then that he met and began a relationship with our elders.  

Kris is 28 years old and is married with two children.  His wife is Sommer; she is 29, and they will be married 10 years on November 29^th.  Their daughter Hannah is 6; she was born April 21^st, 2001.  Their son Luke is 3.  He’ll turn 4 on December 30^th.   

Both Kris and Sommer have family in this area.  Sommer’s family live in Cleveland, TX.  Kris’s parents live in New Caney, TX.  Both were raised in this area.  Kris and his brothers were home-schooled in New Caney.  He graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston.

Kris and Sommer are excited to live in Baytown and work with the great folks at Eastside. Kris believes the Eastside church has much potential and with the combination of visionary leaders, committed members both young and old, and a solid program of work, the future is bright.
